Man attempts suicide after strangling wife

Gorakhpur, July 13 (UNI) Driven by prolonged family tension, a man allegedly garrotted his wife and later attempted suicide by consuming poison in Gorakhnath area of the district today.

Amarjeet squeezed his wife Suman's throat at his residence in Bilandpur Khatta colony.

After murdering Suman, Amarjeet attemped suicide by consuming poison. He was rushed to district hospital, where he was stated to be critical.

Investigations were underway, police said.
