Lokayukta chargesheet against IAS officer in MP

Jabalpur, July 13 (UNI) Lokayukta Special Police today submitted a chargesheet in a Special Court against 1993 batch Madhya Pradesh-cadre IAS officer Ramesh Thete who is charged with cheating banks.

Judge P C Gupta heard the case under the Anti-Corruption Act against Thete, his wife Manda and three bank managers. The accused, who were present, were granted bail after furnishing bonds of Rs 20,000 each. The Lokayukta was represented by Special Public Prosecutor Uday Cholkar while Advocate Anil Khare was Defence Counsel.

The IAS officer and his wife allegedly connived with the managers to avail personal loans exceeding Rs 12 lakh after furnishing wrong information.

Earlier, the Court objected to Ramesh Thete ignoring summons to last week's hearing.

Between 1999 and 2000, Thete was Municipal Commissioner, Jabalpur.
