Jet Airways flight returns to Kolkata following tyre damage

Kolkata, Jul 13 (UNI) A Port Blair bound Jet Airways flight today returned to the NSCBI Airport following tyre damage.

Airport officials said one of the tyres of a Jet Airways flight was damaged when the aircraft was taking off this morning.

The Air Traffic Control informed the commander of the plane about the damage but he decided to continue the flight to Port Blair.

However, the commander while in mid-air over the Andaman and Nicobar Islands decided otherwise and returned to Kolkata at 1050 hours and landed safely with all 164 passengers on board.

The airport runway was examined after the flight landed and parts of the damaged tyre were found, airport officials added.
