Janata Dal(S) calls for 12 hrs bandh on July 31
Puducherry, July 13 (UNI) The Puducherry unit of the Janata Dal today called for a 12-hour bandh here on July 31 to press the government to get its quota in private medical colleges in adjoining Tamil Nadu.
Talking to newspersons here, Janata Dal (S) President E Ganesan said the Tamil Nadu government had obtained 50 per cent seats in private minority medical colleges and 65 per cent seat in other private medical colleges.
Even though Chief Minister N Rangasamy had stated that the administration would get 50 per cent seats, but nothing materialised so far, he said and added the counselling commencing on 16th of this month, the government was still after the private medical college managements.
Mr Ganesan said the Puducherry administration should also get 65 and 50 per cent seats in the private medical colleges. A memorandum in this regard was submitted to the Chief Minister and his reply was not satisfactory, following which the party had decied to organise agitations, he said.
Mr Ganesan also alleged that other parties such as DMK, AIADMK, PMK and left are keeping silence on the issue.
