Jagjit Singh, Anup Jalota launch music of 'Kahani Gudiya Ki'

Mumbai, July 13 (UNI) Renowned ghazal singer Jagjit Singh and bhajan samrat Anup Jalota launched the music of soon to be released film 'Kahani Gudiya Ki', which is based on a true story, at Planet M showroom here.

This is for the first time after 15 years that ghazal maestro Jagjit Singh has sung three songs in one film.

Addressing the media at the launch of the music yesterday, Jagjit Singh said ''Nowadays in films you cannot make out where is the rhythm and where are the lyrics. First they make tunes and then the lyrics to suit the tunes. But in this film, every song is in its place and all the three songs that I have sung are my favourites.'' The starcast of the film includes versatile actors like Seema Biswas, Arif Zakaria, Divya Dutta, Rajpal Yadav and Akhilendra Mishra.

The film is directed by ad filmmaker Prabhakar Shukla, who has made 300 ad films till date, while its lyrics are by Madan Pal who has given numerous hit songs like 'Aashiqui', 'Dil Ka Kya Kasoor' and 'Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman' to name a few. The choreography is by Saroj Khan.

'Kahani Gudiya Ki' is based on a true life story of a woman, named Gudiya, who was married to an army personnel who had to leave for Kargil war just after a week of his marriage. He later became prisoner of war (PoW) in Pakistan and was released after four years and then he came back to India.

Meanwhile, Gudiya got married with another person, but is so traumatized by the incidents that it result in her multiple organ failure.

Speaking on the occasion, Zakaria, one of the lead protagonists of the film, says ''This film needed a lot of research. Prabhakar has aptly brought out the dilemma of a twice married woman. The film is culture-specific, has a religious zone and the music underlines the emotions.'' UNI
