Income Tax Conference to be inaugurated by FM

New Delhi, July 13: The two-day Conference of Chief Commissioners and Directors General of Income Tax to begin on July 17 will be inaugurated by Finance Minister P Chidambaram.

The Conference will deliberate upon ways and means to strengthen the Tax Deduction at Source (TDS) mechanism, strategies for maximising collection; reduction of arrears and widening of the tax base.

The progress of computerisation and the topic of information collection and monitoring mechanism will also be discussed alongwith the issue of human resource management.

Senior officials of the Finance Ministry will attend the event.

The Valedictory address will be delivered by Mr S S Palanimanickam, Minister of State for Revenue.
