Haryana promotes dish type solar cookers

Chandigarh, July 13 (UNI) The Haryana government has decided to promote dish type solar cookers in the state in a big way.

During the current financial year, a sum of Rs 1.50 crore has been earmarked to distribute 2000 solar cookers under the scheme.

Of this amount, a sum of Rs 30 lakh would be given as subsidy, Chief Minister Chander Mohan said here today.

During the last year as many as 3094 dish type solar cookers were distributed among the consumers of the state and a subsidy of Rs 58 lakh was given to them.

The Haryana Government was giving special trust on promotion of solar cookers to encourage conservation of conventional fuels like LPG, fuel wood, kerosene and electricity, he said.

Mr Chander Mohan said efforts were being made to change the mindset of the people for adoption of renewable technologies to take optimum benefit of the programmes being launched by the government.

He said the government was giving subsidies on the purchase of dish type solar cookers as the original cost of dish type solar cooker was Rs 5100 and it was being provided at a cost of Rs 2100.

He said that preference was being given to women headed households having school going children.
