Global Astronautical Congress to begin on Sept 24

Hyderabad, July 13: The five-day International Astronautical Congress (IAC) will be held here from September 24 to 28.

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and the Astronautical Society of India (ASI) would be hosting the event in association with global organisations like IAF, IAA and IISL.

The IAC, the authoritative forum of the Global Space Community, would bring together agency heads, scientific fraternity, policy makers and regulators from India and across the world, Director of National Remote Sensing Agency (NRSA) K Radhakrishnan said here last.

Speaking at a gathering Dr Radhakrishnan said global industry professionals from aeroposace and its various applications, industries, professionals from broadcasting, defence technologies would take part in the IAC.

''Touching Humanity: Space for improving quality of life'' has been selected as the theme of the IAC, which India is hosting for the second time after the first conference at Bangalore in 1988.

The IAC-2007 assumes special significance in the golden jubilee year of the launch of Russian spacecraft 'Sputnik', he added.
