Four sets of nominations filed for VP polls so far
New Delhi, July 13 (UNI) A total of four sets of nominations have been received so far for the thirteenth Vice Presidential election at the office of Returning Officer (RO)/ Assistant Returning Officer (ARO) till today.
According to information received here, of all the nomination papers filed till date, three sets were rejected outright.
The process of filing nomination paper started from July 9 following the issuance of notification of the Vice Presidential election.
Three of the four sets of nominations were filed on July 9 itself and include nomination papers of Mr Harprakash of Paschim Vihar, Delhi who had submitted a copy of the electoral roll displaying his name along with his nomination paper but did not deposit the security. Since the electoral roll was not in original, his nomination was rejected outright.
Mr Ram Kumar Shukl of Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh had also filed two sets of nominations. One of the two sets was rejected as Mr Shukl had submitted a certified copy of the original electoral roll. Also, he had not deposited the statutory security. The other set remained in the fray till the date of scrutiny.
On July 10 Mr Vijay Narayan of Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh filed his nomination papers. Since Mr Narayan, too, had submitted a certified copy of the electoral roll, his nomination was also rejected.
The last date of filing nomination is July 23.
