Dyansys introduces portable "EcScope" to monitor ECG
Chennai, July 13 (UNI) In a first of its kind initiative, Dyansys India Private Limited has introduced ''ECScope'', a portable, battery-operated multi lead ECG monitor.
Designed for general physicians, ECScope offers the doctor portability, convenience and printouts on regular paper.
A vast majority of patients in India are checked by general physicians, of whom there are more than a million in India alone.
The doctors refer the patient to a clinical lab, thus losing precious time in diagnosis.
A majority of patients with chest pain, uneasiness and other cardiac related symptoms approach their family physician first. The physicians refer them to a clinical lab for taking the ECG. There are occasions when the family physician needs to visit the patients in their homes, sometimes during the night.
During these occasions, immediate clinical lab facilities are not available. Moreover, in rural areas, patients need to travel long distances to avail lab facilities.
Currently, most family physicians possess a stethoscope, a thermometer and a blood pressure monitor. They would prefer to add an ECG monitor to this kit to provide better and immediate diagnostic capability and help their patients, if they could find one that was affordable and useful.
It is in this context that the ECScope fulfills all these requirements.
This is the second revolutionary product from Dyansys after ANSiscope, a monitor for Diabetic Autonomic Neuropathy, company officials said today.
''We are targetting rural doctors where the number of labs is inadequate. We are holding talks with doctors'', the officials said and added that the company was planning to sell about 200 to 300 units per month, mostly in rural areas.
The cost of the ECScope is Rs 30,000, which is affordable and can easily be carried by physicians.
