Derailment of goods train in Ambala, 16 trains cancelled

Ambala, July 13 (UNI) Derailment of a goods train near Narela between Ambala-Panipat-Delhi line late last night resulted today in cancellation of 16 passengers trains starting or passing through Ambala Cantonment station.

According to ADRM Ambala Division, the Chandigarh-bound goods train met with an accident at Narella station and one of the bogey loaded with iron bars rammed into an electric pole.

As a result, the electric feeders with 25,000 voltage was twisted, blocking the rail traffic.

The cancelled trains included passenger trains running between Ambala to Delhi, Naggal Dam-Morinda, Patiala-Ambala, Ambala-Kurukshetra, Chandigarh-Allahabad Unchahar.

Meanwhile, a number of express trains were diverted via Rohtak, Jind and Saharanpur to reach Delhi.

These are Muri Express, Kalka Mail, Jaipur-Jammu Tavi Express, Himachal Express, Swaraj Express, Katihar-Amritsar Express, Shan-e-Punjab Express, Malwa Express, Shatabadi Express, Paschim Express, Jehlam Express, Sachkhand Express and Amritsar Superfast trains.

The ADRM said that the rail traffic would be restored after repairs.

The passengers remained stranded due to late arrival of trains on the station here today.

A special counter was set up for the passengers.
