BSF recovers pistol and cartridges at Tripura border
Agartala, Jul 13 (UNI) The Border Security Force(BSF) recovered a country-made pistol and a large number of cartridges from two Bangladeshi nationals last night at Durlabpur area along the western part of Tripura-Bangladesh border.
Police said the jawans of the 74th battalion of BSF noticed two persons trying to enter the Indian territory through the border. On being asked to stop, they opened fire on the jawans.
The BSF retaliated but the intruders managed to escape, leaving behind the arms and ammunition, BSF officials said.
About 150 metres of the border area was still unfenced and insurgents were taking the advantage of this situation, they added.
Police said the BSF had lodged an FIR with Jatrapur police station and were investigating the matter.
