Bomb threat: Temples in Chittoor on high alert

Tirupati, July 13: Police have stepped up security measures at all the temples in Chittoor district, including the Sri Venkateswara Temple, following a bomb threat at Govindarajswamy Temple here.

Police today said searches were conducted with dog and bomb squads at Govindaraja Temple following a bomb threat to the temple last night.

However, the anonymous call received at the camp office of the Superintendent of Police at Tirupati, stating that explosives were planted at the temple premises, turned out to be a hoax.

Police have tightened security at Goddess Padmavathi Ammaavaru Temple in Tiruchanoor, Srikalateeswara Temple in Srikalahasti and Varasiddi Vinayaka Temple in Kanipakam, police added.
