Body of slain Naxal leader buried in native village

Raichur, Karnataka, July 13 (UNI) The body of slain CPI(Maoists) leader Goutam alias Channappa (35) was buried at Turvihal village in Sindhnur taluq in the district today.

The body of Naxal leader's, who was killed in an exchange of fire between the police and the insurgents in Menasinahadya village in Chikmagalur district on Tuesday, was brought to the village by his younger brother Amar Gundappa who performed the last rites. The burial was conducted amid tight police security.

As many as 300 villagers, including his close friends and relatives, attended.

Meanwhile, police kept a vigil on the crowd as they suspected that Maoists from across the border in Andhra Pradesh, might attend the last rites.

Gautam was the State Committee Member of the banned CPI(Maoists) group.
