Assam's economic blockade on Nagaland lifted

Kohima, Jul 13 (UNI) The indefinite economic blockade imposed by All Assam Students' Union (AASU) and the Asom Jatiyatabadi yuba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) on Mokokchung and Mon districts of Nagaland following July five border skirmish have been lifted yesterday afternoon.

According to official sources here today the AASU had announced lifting of economic blockade on Tuesday last, but it was continued by the AJYCP on Tuli areas under Mokokchung district and the entire Mon district, on the Naginimora-Amguri Road, Tizit-Namtola Road and Amguri-Sonari Road leading to Mon till Thursday afternoon.

Following the continued blockade, the traders of Mokokchung refused to transport the essential commodities from Jorhat as the blockade was continuing to the other parts of the district.

Sources said that the blockade was lifted following a marathon meeting between the Tai Ahom Students' Union, Naga Students Federation, All Nagaland College Students' Union and Dimapur Naga Students' Union on Wednesday evening at Dimapur.
