3 militants among five killed, two ultras arrested in J

Srinagar, July 13 (UNI) Three militants, including a commander, were among five people killed and sixteen injured while another surrendered and two were arrested in the Jammu and Kashmir overnight.

A defence ministry spokesman said the 36 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) had launched a search operation at Nich Mawar forest in Dooru area of south Kashmir district of Anantnag this morning, following a tip-off about the presence of militants there.

During the operation, an encounter ensued in which a self-styled company commander Yousuf Bimla alias Rizean of a militant outfit was killed.

Another militant Shahnawaz Naikoo alias Nazadings surrendered during the operation.

Two AK Rifles and other arms and ammunition were recovered from the slain and surrendered militants.

He said in another operation by six Grenadiers, two militants were killed in an fierce encounter, which ensued after a search party was attacked by the ultras hiding in general area Kelan. One AK rifle and other arms and ammunition were recovered from the slain militants.

An official spokesman said the militants had kidnapped and later killed one Ghulam Mohiuddin at Brun Saal Morh Darshi in Reasi district this morning. Another body was recovered in Srinagar, he added.

They said unidentified militants hurled a hand grenade near a cold drink shop at Hajan in this district at 2045 hours.

Sixteen people were injured in the blast, sound of which was heard in the entire area.

The injured were admitted to a hospital, where the condition of six of them is stated to be critical.

Security forces arrested two militants alongwith two AK rifles at Karan Nagar in the city last night.
