2 Pakistanis among 6 held in fake currency racket in Bhuj

Bhuj, July 13 (UNI) Cases against six people were registered today for bringing in fake currency from Pakistan.

Among these were two Pakistanis, allegedly the kingpin behind the racket, who were arrested here a couple of days back.

The two Pakistanis, Abdul Kaleef and Abdul Raful had come to Bhuj on March 14, 2007 bringing in fake Indian currencies worth Rs 24 lakhs by boat. They had come to a fishing port Jakhau from where they went to Mandvi, and were helped by four persons, one of them being from Mumbai.

The four were identified as Abdullah Adam, Ismail Yakub, Suleiman Mammad, all residents of Mandvi and Sajeed Ahmed of Mumbai. These four had allegedly helped the two Pakistanis in their plan to take the fake notes to Ahmedabad, Mumbai and Hyderabad.

The police said Rs 13 lakh has already been sent to Hyderabad while the wherabouts of the remaining 'fake' Rs 11 lakhs is being ascertained.

Police claims these notes were the handiwork of the ISI.

No fake currency was found with the duo or the helpers, it added.

The duo has confessed about the racket adding that they wanted to bring in more fake Indian currencies to India in the future.

Abdul Kaleef said his commission was 10 per cent, which was to be paid to him in Pakistan.
