ZP and TP members stage dharna

Mysore, July 12 (UNI) More than 100 Zilla and Taluk Panchayat members today staged a dharna protesting against the government's action in curbing the powers of local bodies.

They also locked up a gate of ZP office and did not allow the officials to function.

ZP President Ms Rajamma and Vice President K Magrigowda took part in the dharna as part of their state wide protest.

They also submitted a memorannum to the Deputy Commissioner who had rushed to the spot. They thretened to quit their posts enmasse if the goverrment failed to look into their demands.
