UP increases daily wages for agricultural labourers
Lucknow, July 12 (UNI) The Uttar Pradesh government today announced increasing the daily wages of agricultural labourers from Rs 58 to Rs 100.
The decision to this effect was taken in a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mayawati here today.
Announcing the decision in the state legislative assembly, state Parliamentary Affairs minister Lalji Verma said the increased wages would enable people employed in the agricultural get better livelihood. ''Our government is commited towards the uplifment of people living on the fringes of society,'' the minister added.
Now, the daily wages in UP are the highest in Northern India In another decision, the state government has decided to affiliate all dental colleges in private and public sector with the Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj Medical University(SSMMU).
State Cabinet Secretary Shashank Shekhar Singh said here that the decision to affiliate all the dental colleges with CSMMU was take following a recommendation by the Dental Council of India(DCI) to upgrade this institutions. At present there are 17 private dental colleges in the state of which 11 are recognised.
For the purpose, the government would bring an amendment bill in the ongoing Budget session of the State Legislature.
In yet another decision, the government has decided to amalgamate Ambedkar Memorial and Ambedkar Litrary centre in the capital city.
The two would now be jointly known as Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar Samajik Pariwartan Sthal.
A working committee under the chairmanship of chief secretary has been constituted for carrying out the work of maintenance and conservation of the Sthal. A Legislation would also be brought during the current session on the issue.
