UHBVN to shift meters of consumers having ACs

Chandigarh, July 12 (UNI) The Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam plans to shift the meters of those consumers who were having air conditioners from their houses to electric poles or public places on priority basis.

A Nigam spokesman said the air conditioners consumed the maximum power so far as the domestic and non-domestic sectors were concerned.

''By switching off two air conditioners, the load of a CFL lit village can be run without interruption,'' he said.

He urged the consumers to make the optimum use of electricity in view of the fact that the state government has already declared the year 2007-08 as "Save Electricity Year".

Referring to the shifting of meters out of the consumer premises, he said, 23515 consumer meters had been shifted on poles or at public places. These included 23288 domestic connections and 227 non-domestic consumers whose connected load was more than 20 KW.
