Two militants killed, as many arrested in J

Srinagar, July 12 (UNI) Security forces killed two militants, arrested as many, averted a major tragedy and recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition in Jammu and Kashmir overnight, an official spoksperson said.

He said a militant of Pakistan based Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) Anwar Hussain was killed in an encounter with a joint search party of security forces and police at village Bori Daryal in Rajouri district of Jammu region last night. One ultra was also arrested, and two ak rifles, two magzines, 183 rounds of ammunition, two mobile phones and one wireless set were recovered from the slain militant.

Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) a militant was killed by security forces in an encounter at Kudara Bandipora in the frontier district of Kupwara today. The encounter was ensued after a search party was attacked by the militant. One ak rifle and other arms and ammunition were recovered from the site of encounter.

Security forces today averted a major tragedy when they detected a powerful Improvised Explosive Device (IED) fitted in a pressure cooker and was planted at Handwara main market today. It was detected and defused.

Militants today hurled a hand grenade towards the house of a Special Police Officer (SPO) Yog Raj at Banjwa in Kishtwar district.

However, it missed the intended target and exploded near the wall causing damage to it. However, no one was arrested.

Security forces arrested a LeT militant alongwith two hand grenades and letter pads at Handwara.

A hideout was busted at Dojikhal Behak in Baramulla and a large cache of arms and ammunition including one ak rifle, two pistols, four magzines, two hand grenades, six anti tank grenades, two smoke grenades, two UBGL, two rocket boosters, two smoke grenades and two wireless sets were recovered. However, no on was arrested.
