Tripura seeks Rs 18 crore for modernising police
Agartala, July 12: Tripura police has sought Rs 18 crore from the Centre to modernise their networking and police stations under Common Integrated Police Application (CIPA).
State home department officials here today said initially 22 sensitive police stations would be networked with police stations across the country under CIPA to effectively handle the criminals.
Union Home Ministry had sanctioned Rs 58 lakh for Tripura this fiscal in this regard, while the state government asked for more to develop infrastructure and equip the force.
Besides, the state police would upgrade the forensic laboratory and the CID wing with modern technology as well as to purchase modern operation vehicles, officials added.
Tripura police launched the modernisation drive in 2001 with the Central assistance of Rs 12.79 crore.
