Speeding bus claims life of a six-year-old

Patna, July 12 (UNI) A six-year-old child was killed and another was seriously injuried when a speeding bus run over them near Gulzarbagh railway station under Alamgunj police station here today.

Police said the accident occurred when bus ran over the children, who were going to a local market. One of then died on the spot.

Enraged over the accident, the local mob torched the bus and staged protests on the road demanding adequate compensation to the victims' families.

They also demanded immediate arrest of the bus owner and driver, who had escaped from the spot after the accident.

The irate mob also pelted stones at the police, who then lobbed tear gas shells and even opened fire to disperse them.

However, the situatiuon was under control, police said.
