RP Infosystems seeks SEZ approval for Rs 1,000 cr plant
New Delhi, July 12 (UNI) R P Infosystems today said it is seeking government approval for SEZ status to its recently acquired 40 hectare-land in West Bengal where it plans to set up a Rs 1,000 crore manufacturing plant.
''We have approached the government for it and have received positive feedback. Hopefully, we will get the approval soon,'' said company Chairman Kaustav Ray.
The company envisages to invest about Rs 1,000 crore to set up a computer components manufacturing plant at the site, situated near Kolkata.
''This plant would help us in manufacturing motherboards and other parts, which are currently procured from the local markets,'' Mr Ray said.
The company has currently three computer assembly plants in West Bengal, Shillong and Parwanoo in Himachal Pradesh.
''We are in talks with various Chinese and Taiwan-based companies for technology transfer,'' he added.
The Kolkata-based company is now spreading its services across the country with current focus on the northern region. ''The Parwanoo plant will help us in establishing a foothold in this region and also help the company achieve the revenue target of Rs 500 crore,'' said Mr Ray.
The company's current turnover stands at Rs 170 crore. The total output is about 20,000 units a month from the three plants.
