Provide pension to anti-Hindi stir participants:Janakiraman

Puducherry, July 12 (UNI) State DMK convener and former Puducherry Chief Minister R V Janakiraman today urged the administration to take immediate steps to provide pensions to those who had participated in the 'anti-Hindi' agitations.

In a statement here, he recalled that Chief Minister N Rangasamy had announced in the assembly that Rs 4,000 would be provided as pension to the participants.

However, no measures were taken so far for the provision of pension, he said adding the families of those who took part in the struggle were under abject poverty. The government should therefore take immediate steps to ensure that pension were paid to them.

He demanded that the pension be also provided to those who took part in the 'anti-Hindi agitation in 1986, as announced by Chief Minister.
