Nitish for strengthening cultural ties with Mauritius

Patna, July 12 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today said the state government was ready to sign an agreement with Mauritius to strengthen the cultural ties between Bihar and Mauritius.

Mr Kumar, who is scheduled to leave for five day visit to Mauritius on a special invitation by Prime Minister Navin Chandra Ram Ghulam, to participate in ''Bihar Week'' being organised in that country, told newspersons here that the state government had drafted a proposal for cultural exchange between Mauritius and Bihar.

The proposal had been sent to the Centre for its approval,he said adding once it gets the green signal, the agreement would be signed with the Mauritius government during the visit.

Referring to the contribution of the talents of Bihar in building modern Mauritius, Mr Kumar said during his visit he would offer them to contribute in the development of Bihar.

''Overwhelmed with emotional bondage, several Biharis residing in Mauritius were eager to trace their origin in Bihar, their own soil,'' he added.

Mr Kumar said the Bihar government had decided to install the statue of Mr Shivsagar Ram Ghulam, known as father of the Nation of Mauritius and would invite the PM Mr Ghulam for unveiling the statue.

Mr Kumar said during his visit, he would address the National Assembly and university of Mauritius.
