Mukhtar Ansari produced in court in 1988 murder case

Varanasi, July 12 (UNI) Controversial independent MLA Mukhtar Ansari was today produced before a Fast Track Court (FTC) here in a 1988 traffic police cop murder case.

Ansari, also a prime accused in the November 29, 2005 BJP MLA Krishnanand Rai murder case was produced before the court of FTC (II) Brajmohan Gupta here in connection with the October 25, 1988 murder of traffic police cop Rajendra Singh.

The court later posted the case for further hearing on July 17.

Ansari and Harihar Singh are accused of murdering a traffic cop posted at the Varanasi Traffic Police Line on October 25, 1988.

Earlier, Ansari was brought amid tight security from the Ghazipur district jail to Varanasi.
