Gandhinagar, July 12 (UNI) Chief Minister Narendra Modi is trying to suppress the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) report regarding the Rs 500 crore corruption in the Sujalam Sufalam scheme, Leader of the Opposition in Gujarat Assembly Arjun Modhwadia has alleged.

Addressing mediapersons here today, Mr Modhwadia said that PAC is an autonomous body constituted as per the Constitution. The report has to be presented to the House and not to the Speaker as is the case. The report is being withheld to save Mr Modi, Mr Modhwadia alleged.

Mr Modhwadia said he would launch a hunger strike beginning July 16 until the morning of July 19 when the Monsoon Session of Gujarat Assembly begins over the issue.

In the history of independent India, never has a PAC report been kept in abeyance in any Vidhan Sabha, Mr Modhwadia said.
