Mirwaiz dares J

Srinagar, July 12 (UNI) Moderate Hurriyat Conference chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq today warned the Jammu and Kashmir government of ''dire consequences'' if a protest march led by him on the Martyrs Day here tomorrow would be stopped.

''If restrictions are imposed and we are stopped from holding the protest march, the state government will be responsible for the consequences,'' he told a hurriedly called news conference here.

The Mirwaiz termed as ''unwarranted'' the government's decision to prevent his party the Awami Action Committee (AAC) from laying the foundation stone of ''Minar-e-Shuhda'' near Central Jail here.

''We condemn the police action against AAC activists and the government's interference,'' he added.

The Hurriyat Chairman said he would lead the protest demonstration against the government's interference here tomorrow ''under any circumstances''.
