Mann's judicial remand extended for four days
Jalandhar, Jul 12 (UNI) A local court today extended the judicial remand of Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) president Simranjeet Singh Mann and 20 others for four days.
Judicial Magistrate Paramjit Kaur, after hearing the arguments, asked the prosecution to produce Mann and 20 others, arrested under sedition charges, on July 16 in the court.
Mr Mann, along with SAD (Zafarwal) chief Jaffar Singh Wasan and 19 other party workers including a woman were arrested on May 14 for dishonouring the statue of former Punjab chief minister Beant Singh at the BMC Chowk here.
They put the garland of placards pasted with photos of Dilawar Singh, reportedly the human bomb who blasted himself to eliminate Beant Singh, around the neck and arms of Beant Singh's statue and raised slogans in favour of Jarnail Singh Bhindrawale.
Earlier, Mann along with his supporters was booked under Sections 107 and 151 of the CrPC, which were later converted to section 124 of the IPC.
