Man commits suicide, names local contractor, politician

Kapurthala, July 12 (UNI) A man committed suicide today by consuming poison in an abandoned house here today.

Sukhdev Kumar, 28, left a suicide note in which he named contractor Jamir Khan and BJP District President Hira Lal Dhir for forcing him to commit suicide by levelling false charge of theft on him and alleged that he was tortured by the local police under the political pressure.

According to police, the deceased, a resident of Tarlokpura locality here, was a drug addict and was missing from his house since Wednesday.

His body was found today in an abandoned house in the locality.

Police has registered a case under section 306 IPC against contractor Jamir Khan and BJP District President Hira Lal Dhir on the basis of the suicide note recovered from the pocket of the deceased.
