Kumaraswamy to meet PM, discuss terrorist activities
Bangalore, July 12 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy will meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in New Delhi tomorrow to brief him about investigations into the Glasgow terrorist plot in which three young men from Bangalore are suspects.
The Chief Minister would also hold discussions with Home Minister Shivraj Patil.
Official sources said apart from terrorism activities in his state, Mr Kumaraswamy would also discuss the activities of naxalites belonging to the CPI (Maoists) group in the districts of Chikmagalur, Shimoga and Udupi.
Police shot dead five persons, suspected to be naxalites, in an encounter on Tuesday.
While police claimed that they were naxals, locals and activists alleged that it was a fake encounter and four of the five killed were civilians.
Home Minister M P Prakash would also accompany the Chief Minister and the two leaders were expected to seek Central assistance to combat naxalism in the state.
The Chief Minister was also expected to brief the Prime Minister about the floods that had hit the normal life in different parts of North Karnataka during the current monsoon and seek aid to take up rehabilitation works.
