Kerala proposes law to protect backwaters
Thiruvananthapuram, July 12 (UNI) Kerala Revenue Minister K P Rajendran today told the State Assembly that the government proposed to enact a legislation to protect backwaters and other water bodies from encroachers and pollution.
Replying to a submission, he said the proposed law would have strict provisions to prevent reclamation and encroachment of backwaters and marshlands.
He said the there were allegations that water bodies were shrinking due to encroachment.
