Husband gets RI for abetting wife for suicide

Patna, Jul 12 (UNI) A local sessions court here today awarded five years of Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) to a person for abetting his wife to commit suicide.

The court also slapped a fine of Rs one thousand against the convict.

The additional district and sessions judge of Patna B M Shrivastawa found Manoj Giriunder guilty under section 306 and 498-A of Indian Penal Code.

The convict was a resident of Mugalpura Muhalla under Khajekala police station area.

According to the charges, the victim committed suicide due to continuos torture at the hands of her husband on July 30, 2003.
