Haryana to ensure adequate DAP supply to farmers

Chandigarh, July 12 (UNI) The Haryana government has made elaborate arrangements for supply of DAP to the farmers during the ensuing kharif season.

Minister of State for Cooperation Meena Mandal said that Haryana State Cooperative Supply and Marketing Federation(HAFED) had a reserve stock of 20,000 MT of DAP besides during the month of July, it was expected that 50000 MT of more DAP would reach in the state and it would ensure sufficient supply of DAP to the farmers.

She said that the distribution of DAP would be made through the network of Cooperative Marketing Societies in the state.

She said that during the month of April 1 to June last, Hafed had sold 47,000 MT of DAP and NPK to the farmers as against the 20,000 MT of DAP and NPK sold during the corresponding period of the previous year and registered an increase of 135 per cent, she added.

The Minister said that for the Rabi season 2007-08, Hafed would arrange and distribute 3.00 lakh MT DAP as against actual sale of 1.30 lakh MT DAP through its network during 2006-07.
