Haryana takes steps to expand police force

Chandigarh, 12 July (UNI) The Haryana government is taking various steps to expand and modernise its police force.

A police spokesman said, one new battalion of Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) would be established. Many new police stations, police posts, traffic police stations and five bomb disposal squads would also be set up, he added.

He said recruitment of 3700 police constables would be made shortly, to overcome the shortage of police personnel in the department.

The department had purchased 369 new vehicles during the year 2006-07. He said, in order to boost the morale of police force, the government had taken many steps which included welfare, housing, recreation and promotion opportunities for the employees. UNI
