Govt to decide soon on Cairn pipeline
New Delhi, July 12 (UNI) Government today said it will soon decide on approving the plans to lay a 580 km pipeline to transport the crude oil from Cairn India's Barmer oil fields in Rajasthan to Virangam (Gujarat).
''The matter will be sorted out in a day or two...we have recommended for a pipeline,'' an oil ministry official told reporters here.
Replacing the earlier proposal for a mini refinery at Rajasthan to process the crude oil, the government had agreed to Cairn India's proposal to lay a pipeline at a cost of Rs 2,400 crore.
The cost of laying the pipeline is to be shared between Cairn and Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) in a 70:30 ratio.
