Dalit man beaten to death over Rs 80

Pratapgarh, July 12 (UNI) A Dalit was allegedly beaten to death over a minor dispute pertaining to a meagre sum of Rs 80 here.

According to police, Hariram (56) of village Abhapur in Aspur Devsara area had taken Rs 80 from Pappu Dharikar as loan.

Last evening, when Pappu demanded the money back, Hariram refused saying he had repaid the same by working as a labourer in his house.

The matter soon snowballed and Pappu and his sister Guddi assaulted Hariram badly.

He was taken to a primary health centre for treatment. He died while he was being shifted to the district hospital today.

Meanwhile, Guddi had been arrested.
