CPM says it may intensify land struggle

Tirupati, July 12 (UNI) The CPI (M) will intensify its 'bhooportam' (land struggle) by organising hunger strike camps in Chittoor District from July 15 if the administration did not fulfill its promise of providing house sites to the poor and Dalits, a local leader said.

At a press conference here, CPI (M) Chittoor Secretary K Murali alleged the officials worked only for ruling party leaders and not for people's welfare and failed to fulfill the promises made during the earlier agitations.

The party would organise a dharna before all mandal revenue offices in the district on July 16 and if the distict administration failed to react postively, the CPI (M) would begin indefinite hunger strike from July 23.
