Court sentences person to 10 years RI for possessing Cannabis

Shimla, Jul 12 (UNI) A local court here in Himachal Pradesh today sentenced a person to 10-year rigorous imprisonment (RI) and a fine of Rs one lakh for possessing Cannabis.

A fast track court, in its order, said the accused would have to under three more years of RI if he failed to pay the fine.

Surender Singh was arrested near Majhroi Badani jungle on the Cheog-Tiyali Road in Shimla district of the state on September 16, last year, while trying to smuggle 2.650 kg Cannabis in a car.
