Congress leadership has taken note of Wakf land scam:Prabha

Mumbai, July 12 (UNI) Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) President Prabha Rau today refused to be drawn into controversy surrounding the Wakf land scam involving two leaders from her own party, saying the party leadership has taken note of the squabble.

Speaking to mediapersons here, Ms Rau said, it was not necessary for her to make public, the discussions she has had with the party high command. Replying to questions,the state unit chief admitted that the issue was affecting the party's image.

''I have discussed the issue with the AICC general secretary Margaret Alva and if need arises she will seek the intervention of AICC chief Sonia Gandhi,''Ms Rau said when asked if any action would be taken against Wakf minister Anees Ahmed for levelling allegations against the Chief Minister and senior ministers.

To a question on the party's stand as to what should be the right course of action in the land scam, Ms Rau said, it was necessary to go to root of the entire issue.
