Chain-snatching on Hyderabad-bound train near Wardha

Nagpur, July 12 (UNI) Gold chains, worth over Rs 54,000, were stolen by unidentified miscreants in a chain-snatching incident aboard the 2722 Hazrat Nizamuddin-Hyderabad Dakshin Express, near Wardha in Vidarbha region of Maharashtra, police said today.

Police said the miscreants snatched the chains from the three passengers in two sleeper class coaches of the train, after which they left Sewagram station in Wardha district late last night.

At least 12 miscreants, snatched the chains through the window, after pulling the bogie chain to bring the train to a halt, and later fled taking advantage of the darkness, police said.

The police checked the entire train after it reached Ballarshah railway station, and found that three passengers had lost their chains.
