Bihar legislature adjourned for the day

Patna, July 12 (UNI) The first day of Bihar Legislature's monsoon session was adjourned for the day today after obituary references.

Welcoming the members, Speaker Udai Narayan Choudhary appealed to the members of the Lower House to cooperate in discharging the business of the House.

He said the sessions of the House were important as the members get the opportunity to raise the issues of common concern.

The Speaker declared Hari Narayan Singh, Bhola Singh, Abdul Bari Siddiqui, Pashupati Kumar Paras and Ramdeo Rai as the presiding officers for the current session and constituted the business advisory committee.

Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi, who also holds the finance portfolio, tabled the details of the income and expenditure of the first supplementary for the current fiscal year in the Lower House while in the Upper House, it was tabled by Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh.

State Legislative Council Acting Chairman Arun Kumar welcomed the members saying that their prime role was to maintaining the decorum of the House.

Prof Kumar also announced the names of presiding officers and business advisory committee for Upper House.

Later, obituary references were made in both the Houses to the departed leaders inclduing former Prime Minister Chandra Shekhar, Delhi's former Chief Minister Saheb Singh Verma, former minister Yogendra Prasad Yogesh and Lalbabu Prasad, former MP Manjay Lal and MLA Bachacha Choubey.
