AIADMK stir seeking action on schemes

Puducherry, July 12 (UNI) The Puducherry unit of the AIADMK would resort to road blockade agitation at nine places in Puducherry and Karaikal region of the union territory to press the government to implement already announced schemes forthwith, party's state unit secretary and MLA A Anbazhagan announced today.

Addressing a press conference here, he said, Chief Minister N Rangasamy had announced several schemes including the provision of colour TV sets to poor families,unemployement allowance to educated unemployed and provision of ten kg of free rice, which are yet to be implemented. This has been brought to the notice of AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa who had given permission for the agitation.

If the government continues to function in the same manner even after the agitation,the party would organise another agitation affecting the functioning of the legislative assembly, he added.

He demanded that the government should immediately announce the number of seats it would get in the private medical colleges here.

The date of counseling for MBBS admission through the centralised admission committee will begin on July 16 but the government quota in private medical college was still not known.

The Chief Minister had announced on the floor of the house that the government would obtain 50 per cent seats from private medical colleges. However, the government is saying that after the private medical college managements it will get seats, he said and added the AIADMK was prepared to initiate legal action in the issue.

He also demanded a probe into a fire mishap at Embalom recently in which 24 huts were gutted as the Embalom legislator was objecting to the victims reconstructing their houses with government aid at the same site. This gives room for suspicion, he alleged.
