4 of a family commit suicide
Azamgarh, July 12 (UNI) Driven by abject poverty and debt, four persons of a family committed suicide by throwing themselves in front of a running train in Sidhari area here.
Police today said the incident occurred late last night, where six persons of a family attempted suicide by jumping in front of the Utsarg express, en route from Chappra to Lucknow, in Rampur Jabti village.
Four of them, identified as Prabhunath (55), Malti Devi (50), Savita (16) and Yogendra (12), died on the spot.
Prabhunath's daughters Renu (17) and Poonam (18) were rushed to hospital in a critical condition.
The kin, resident of Dhanchula Jameen Harkhoi village of Jeeyanpur area, had mentioned financial crisis and debt burden as the reason behind their extreme step.
The bodies had been sent for autopsy and an investigation was on.
