4 abductors gunned down by police

Lakhimpur Kheri, July 12 (UNI) Police gunned down four abductors and rescued a person from their clutches in an encounter in Mailani area here.

Hardev Singh and his sibling Gurpal Singh of Barocha Pahadpur village were kidnapped, while they were on way to Mailani bazaar yesterday.

Later, Gurpal was released to bring Rs 1.5 lakh for Hardev's rescue.

On receiving the information, the locals informed the police.

In the subsequent encounter with the criminals, police killed four kidnappers with the help of the locals. However, three abductors managed to escape.

The slain criminals hailed from Kesarpur Kala village of Shahjahanpur district.
