Tyres worth Rs 14 lakh looted from truck

Sangrur, July 11 (UNI) Tyres worth Rs 14 lakh were looted by a gang of highway robbers from a truck in this district today.

Police said ten armed robbers waylaid a truck coming from Rajasthan near Mastuana Sahib here and took it to Dhuri after overpowering the truck driver and the cleaner.

The gang put the tyres into another truck at Dhuri and fled with the booty, leaving behind driver Amrik Singh and cleaner Kala with their hands and feet tied.

Police registered a case against the unidentified robbers under Sections 382, 148 and 149 on the complaint of the driver.
