Two jawans of Tripura state rifles suspended

Agartala, July 11 (UNI) The state home department has suspended two jawans of Tripura State Rifles(TSR) while initiating enquiry against two other officers for shooting a tribal woman on July 6 in Dhalai district.

According to reports, TSR third battalion jawans, while conducting a "search" in the tribal-dominated Brindabanpara area, fired at a house,seriously wounding a woman Bikramshakti Molsom.

The incident triggered serious uproar among the tribals as well as in the political circle.

After primary investigation, home department yesterday suspended thw two TSR jawans of the battalion - Dipak Das and Supriya Roy - while initiating departmental investigation against Nayek Subedar Kanan Singh and Assistant Sub-Inspector Hiran Debbarmma.
