Tributes paid to Sahib Singh

New Delhi, July 11 (UNI) Rich tributes were paid to former Delhi Chief Minister Sahib Singh Verma this evening where the BJP's top hierarchy and a host of other party leaders offered their last respects to the popular leader who died on June 30.

Former Union HRD Minister Murli Manohar Joshi, BJP president Rajnath Singh and party spokesperson Sushma Swaraj led the party in offering tributes to the departed leader who was named 'dharti putra' by those present.

Conspicuous by their absence were party veteran Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Lal Krishna Advani.

Congress leader and Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Punjab Chief Minister and Akali Dal leader Parkash Singh Badal and his son Sukhbir Singh Badal, INLD leader Om Prakash Chautala and Sharad Yadav of the JD (U) also praised Mr Sahib Singh for his courageous and dedicated leadership.

Others to offer their condolences at the function, called to pay last respects to the former Delhi CM, included his predecessor and former Delhi CM Madan Lal Khurana and Congress leader Sajjan Kumar, Delhi state ministers Mangat Ram Singhal and Yoganand Shastri and Anti-Terrorist Front founder Maninder Singh Bitta.

Sahib Singh's son Pravesh Verma pledged to take forward his father's legacy to greater heights while fulfilling the aspirations of the people.
