Strike effect minimal in Mumbai region
Mumbai, July 11 (UNI) The strike called by the employees of the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) had a minimal effect on telecom services in the city.
The employees went on strike demanding immediate placement of equipment orders for the expansion of its mobile network.
BSNL General Manager (Maintenance), Mumbai region K K Minocha told UNI, ''The effect of the strike on the services of the Mumbai region was by and large normal as most of the employees were on duty.'' BSNL has 3.5 crore fixed lines and 2.4 crore mobile subscribers and is the largest telecom operator with operations in various regions, except Mumbai and Delhi.
In these two Metro cities, the mobile services are being handled by the Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL), which is not a part of the strike.
